Vancouver - the end…and just the beginning

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

We are in Vancouver for the final public consultation regarding the National Strategy for Early Literacy.  Although our tour across Canada is nearing completion we have far to go in development of the strategy.

We are accepting written submissions at nselsubmission@cllrnet.ca until March 31st, and after that we must compile all of the information that has been collected from panelists, presenters and written submissions to create a draft for the strategy.

Our panel today consists of a wide variety of individuals, including:

Myer Horowitz, former President of the University of Alberta
Nick Geer, Chair of NavCanada, former Chair and President of ICBC and Vice-Chair of the Pattison Group
Jeff Dowle, Canadian representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council and former Executive Vice-President of HSBC Bank and Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade
Mary Jean Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer, Literacy and Numeracy
